MUN Reflection

Allison
10-28-08

On October 24th at our school we had MUN which means model united nations. We had to model what the actual UN does by recereating it with real issues and real country repersentations. I was given the country Romania which is located in Eastern Europe. I was on the UNEP commite and we talked about CFC emmisions and the green industry.
I thought that MUN was a lot of fun. I really liked being able to be argumentative and come up with solutions to important problems and go against what everyone else did, and not following the crowd. I was Romania and although I was allied with many different countries I felt that no one was listening to what I had to say, so with the help of Peru I we made our own resolution. Peru and my resolution did not get passed however I think that it did not get passed because everyone sided with the "smart people" of our group and wouldn't even listen to what we had to say. I think that if people were more open minded and not so focused on following the people that are thought of as smart then I think a lot more people would have seen our point of view and sided with us.
Although I liked MUN I didnt like how i was not able to debate, because debating is one of my favorite things to do. I think that I can use MUN as a reminder for me to be like I was in MUN and always be active participant.
I think that I particpated a lot more than I anticipated, but I think that I could have gotten a better award if I talked more and was more agressive with what i was saying.

Chinese History

The Chinese settled near the Yellow river about three thousand years before Christ was born. In the Xia Dynasty the first emperors ruled China. The emperors in the Xia Dynasty can be referred to today as ruled by queens and kings. Before Christ was born in the time of the Han dynasty iron, fishing, religions, the first trade routes, literature, silk, writing, poetry, canals were the inventions, discovery’s, and ideas discovered and thought of before Christ was born. Animals were also domesticated into working animals. For example silk worms were domesticated in the Neolithic Dynasty of China. Silk worms were domesticated so people could get silk for lavish linens and clothing. In Chinese history there was a lot of corruption of government going on in China, for instance how many dynasties and emperors were overthrown. Throughout all of Chinese history the Chinese were constantly improving their storage of food supplies. Many dynasties worked on building extra food storage all throughout the nation so that people would not starve from a famine.
Throughout all of Chinas history there had been a constant advancing in the culture of China. There was a constant growth of culture advancement such as international trading, literature, weapon advancement, and much much more. During most of Chinese history there has also been the expansion of trade routes. One of the popular trade routes was the Silk Road trade route. The Silk Road trade route was not a particular trade route, but any trade route that went from China to Rome. The trade route was usually about four thousand years old. In almost all of the history of China, China’s neighbors have constantly been trying to take China so that they could have some of their prosperity and goods.
